In 2023, controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was involved in a violent altercation in the locker room at a Florida gym. Now, the New York native is taking action against the company.

According to TMZ, 6ix9ine filed a lawsuit in Palm Beach County against L.A. Fitness asking for more than $1 million in damages for the incident caught on video. The rapper claims that the gym didn't provide him adequate security, allowing three men—later identified in the suit as alleged Latin Kings gang members—to beat him up in the locker room. He's seeking $1 million in damages for the alleged negligence. The attack reportedly caused him bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, humiliation, medical expenses, loss of income, and diminished quality of life after suffering injuries to his jaw, ribs, and back. The three men were arrested in connection to the incident.

It's the latest legal squabble that 6ix9ine finds himself involved in. Back in 2019, the rapper began cooperating with federal prosecutors in their case against his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. He eventually got a two-year prison sentence for racketeering but was released early when the pandemic broke out due to his chronic asthma. Then, later in 2023 after the L.A. Fitness fight, he was arrested in the Dominican Republic after allegedly assaulting two local producers. And in 2024, he was arrested for domestic violence for an alleged assault against his now-ex-girlfriend, singer Yailín la Más Viral.

"If you know 6ix9ine, you know, like, I’m squeaky clean," the rapper told TMZ last October. "I stay out of trouble. It’s just trouble seems its way to find me all the time."
