Ryanair flight FR3418 reportedly came within just six minutes of running out of fuel before finally landing safely at Manchester International Airport in England.

According to The Herald in Scotland, the emergency occurred on Oct. 3, when the Boeing 737 passenger jet was traveling from Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport in Italy bound for Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

The Herald reports that the flight was on final approach in Glasgow, but 100 MPH winds from Storm Amy made landing incredibly difficult. The flight was forced to abort the landing approach due to the inclement weather.

The pilots tried to land again, to no avail. Once again, the flight entered a hold pattern, but this time, the plane was diverted to Edinburgh, and the pilots had no luck there either, as the jet was, again, forced to abort landing and go into a holding pattern.

Flight FR3418 was finally diverted to Manchester, England, which prompted pilots to issue a "fuel MAYDAY."

The plan finally landed, nearly two hours after aborting its first landing in Scotland. The incident is now under investigation.

"Ryanair reported this to the relevant authorities on Friday (3 Oct)," a Ryanair spokesperson told The Herald. "As this is now subject of an ongoing investigation, which we are cooperating fully with, we are unable to comment.”
