Rapper Young Scooter died from a leg injury he suffered while running from police, according to a news release from Atlanta police.
Police shed light on the rapper's cause of death in the news release.
On March 28, 2025, at approximately 5:23 p.m., officers responded to 273 William Nye Drive SE "in reference to a dispute with possible gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with a male who exited the house; however, the male immediately fled from responding officers," a news release from Atlanta police says.
"After a brief foot chase, officers were able to locate the male and he was found to be suffering from an apparent leg injury. Atlanta police officers did not discharge their firearms," the release added.
"Officers rendered aid to the male, by applying a tourniquet and he was transported to the hospital for further treatment. Medical personnel later notified the officers that the male had succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased. Investigators with the Homicide Unit as well as investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation remains ongoing at this time," Atlanta police wrote.

According to AJC, the medical examiner was conducting an autopsy on March 29, 2025.
Young Scooter's real name was Kenneth Bailey, and he was 39 years old, according to 11Alive.
"During the process of establishing the perimeter, two males fled out of the rear of the house," Lt. Andrew Smith told that television station. "One male returned back into the house. The other male jumped two fences as he was fleeing. When officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg."
