Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is about an unlikely Taylor Swift fan as they come, and over the weekend the 47-year-old was in attendance the second night of the singer's Eras tour in Miami. But in addition to getting the full VIP treatment, Portnoy also received a handwritten note from Swift to thank him for the years of support.
Images of the note were shared to social media by Portnoy's BFFs podcast, which had apparently arrived hand-delivered by her brother, Austin Swift, complete with a "13" branded wax seal. Inside, on a card reading: "From the desk of Taylor Swift; songwriter/feline enthusiast," Swift shared a brief but heartfelt note.
"Dave, I'm so happy to have you at the show tonight!" she exclaimed. "I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when a lot of people didn’t. I hope you have a blast tonight!"
Portnoy has long-since been a vocal supporter of Swift's, often leveraging his fandom to take potshots at the pair's shared nemesis, Kim Kardashian. Back in April, Portnoy could barely contain his excitement at Swift releasing her song, "thanK you aIMee," which was a very thinly-veiled jab at the reality star.
"KIM KARDASHIAN GOT WRECKED," he all-caps posted at the time. "I NEED TO SEE HER KID SINGING LYRIC ABOUT WHAT A DIRTBAG HER MOTHER IS."
Of course, Swift could also be referring to the fact that Portnoy came to her defense when she officially threw her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the upcoming presidential election, despite the fact that he plans to vote the other way.
As the king of the Swifties people are asking me what I think of her Kamala endorsement. I don't care at all. People can vote for whoever they want in this country. How somebody votes will never change my opinion of a person. I'm voting the other way but to each their own

In either case, Portnoy also shared a video to social media, recalling the "spectacular" night he had at the concert, sitting in the VIP section next to Billy Joel.
And not one to turn down a victory lap, he also took the opportunity to rub his letter in the face of a Swiftie who had called him out as being a "performative" fan. However, in a show of mercy, Portnoy said he would not ensure that the fan was blacklisted from future Taylor Swift concerts, as he evidently believes he has that power to arrange for that to happen.
