It's been more than a decade since Liam Neeson has dated following the tragic death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson. And it appears the 72-year-old doesn't plan on changing that.
Neeson appears in a cover story for the latest issue of People, in which he looks back at his life and career. When asked if he's dating, the Academy Award-nominated actor did not mince words. "No, in a word. I’m past all that," he responded.
The couple, who met while performing in a Broadway revival of Anna Christie in 1993, were married from 1994 to 2009, until Richardson died due to a severe head injury she suffered in a skiing accident in Montreal. Neeson began dating public relations executive Freya St. Johnston about a year after his wife's death in a relationship that lasted for two years, but hasn't been linked to anyone else since then. Before meeting Richardson, he previously dated Barbra Streisand, Brooke Shields, and Helen Mirren.
"It was a horrible thing to happen," Neeson told the publication. He said that his primary focus at the time became looking after the couple's then-teenage sons Micheál and Daniel, now 29 and 28, and "making sure they were okay."
He also credits his mother-in-law, Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave, 87, and sister-in-law Joely Richardson, 59, for stepping up to help in the family's time of need. "Everybody just pulled together. Vanessa and Joely were extraordinary. We were fortunate in lots of ways," he added.
