The New York Jets' dismissal of head coach Robert Saleh earlier this month hasn't kept him off the field for too long. Just two weeks after his firing, Saleh is already on the practice field with another NFL team.

On Oct. 23, Saleh joined the Green Bay Packers' coaches and players for practice as he works with the team's offensive line ahead of their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Packers head coach Matt LeFleur is happy to have Saleh's expertise as a defensive coordinator and coach in the NFL to help give the Packers offense a more well-rounded approach.

"I think that's always a good deal to have the perspective, that defensive perspective on that side of the ball," LaFleur said, according to the Packers' website. "So, [he's] just taking a look at some of the things we're doing. It's a good opportunity for him to learn and also for him to help us and give us perspective on how teams might see us, how they might defend us."

While Saleh's history is largely as a defensive coach, LaFleur emphasized that the ex-Jets coach won't be stepping on the toes of new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. "I don't want to do that," LaFleur said. "I think Haf and our defensive staff have a great thing going right now. And I totally trust them. It's year one; he's kind of got to go through it himself."

The level of Saleh's involvement is "fluid," LaFleur said. The two go back decades as they were roommates in college and have remained friends over the years. It was a no-brainer, then, to bring his experienced friend on, even in a limited capacity.

"I just think it speaks to how much he loves the game of football," LaFleur said of Saleh jumping at the opportunity. "Obviously it's tough when it gets kind of taken away from you."

"He's got an elite defensive mind. But that's why I want him on the offensive side, so he can help us attack the defenses," he noted.

The Green Bay Packers face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. ET. The New York Jets, currently led by defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich as interim head coach, will play the New England Patriots on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. ET.
