The new movie Primetime, which stars Robert Pattinson as former NBC host Chris Hansen, is not kind to Hansen’s first marriage. Anna Faris plays Hansen’s long suffering wife, Mary Hansen, as a lonely woman who deals with Hansen’s alleged infidelity.

Chris Hansen has excoriated the movie as a work of fiction that exploited his life, got the facts wrong and flipped the real victims and villains. However, the movie has plunged his relationships back in the news, leaving moviegoers wondering what happened to his marriage and wife, and whether they stayed married.

The answer is that, no, Hansen and his wife Mary Joan Hansen did not stay married. He has a new wife named Gabrielle Gagnon, and they frequently post about their relationship on their respective Instagram accounts.

Hansen’s second wife, Gabrielle, posts on an Instagram page using the handle “Official Mrs. Hansen.” Her page is filled with photos and videos showing her with Chris Hansen and her two kids. Her IMDb profile says that Gagnon has been married to Hansen since 2021. They were married in Detroit, MI.

“So grateful,” she wrote with a video that showed her with Hansen. She appeared with Chris on the podcast Jeff Lewis Has Issues. According to the U.S. Sun, Chris and Gabrielle met at a restaurant bar in Michigan while both were dining out with friends.

Her posts frequently chronicle their travels. “Up north on the 4th 🇺🇸 Happiest mom on earth…me ❤️🤍💙” she wrote with another video that shows her standing with Chris Hansen. Another video showed Hansen and his wife in Palm Beach. A photo collage showed her out on the town with Hansen.

Hansen revealed that his wife went with him to see the movie. “Well, my wife went with me, and we watched it together. And the takeaway was it’s so bizarre and over-the-top fiction that it was hard to get upset about it, because it’s ridiculous in so many ways,” he told Variety.

In 2019, Hansen went through a great deal of turmoil in his personal life. People reported that he was being evicted from his New York apartment, and his wife Mary Joan Hansen was filing for divorce. That’s well after To Catch a Predator ended in 2007, so the marriage survived another 12 years.

Hansen and Mary were married for nearly 30 years. Around the same time, he was accused of issuing bad checks, according to People. According to People, Mary alleged that “the marriage has broken down irretrievably” and was requesting alimony and “a fair division of property and debts.”

As the movie shows, Chris Hansen was accused of having a relationship outside his marriage with Florida television reporter Kristyn Caddell. However, he denied the accusation, and the timeline in the movie does not match the real-life accusations, which came after his NBC show ended. Caddell has worked as a journalist based in Florida.
