Retail has passed, so the ‘Black Cat’ is primarily a resale buy. As of September 25, StockX asks include $271 for a men’s 8, $285 for a 9, $255 for a 12, $264 for a 13 and $265 for my size 14.
GOAT asks are higher in several sizes I checked, including $343 for a 9, $291 for a 12 and $327 for a 14. Larger sizes get expensive quickly. Compare marketplaces before buying because the gap can easily reach $50 or more.
What Makes the Air Jordan 3 ‘Black Cat’ Stand Out?
Jordan Brand brought back the ‘Black Cat’ 18 years after its 2007 debut, keeping the dark formula built around black nubuck, charcoal elephant print and a nearly monochromatic finish.
The patent leather mudguard is what separates it for me. Its glossy surface breaks up the matte upper and gives Tinker Hatfield’s Jordan 3 a sharper look without changing what makes the silhouette work. An all-black AJ3 could easily feel plain. This one has enough texture to avoid that.

Once the ask pushes well past $300, I’m out. The ‘Black Cat’ is excellent, but there are too many good black Jordan 3s available for less to justify paying a heavy premium just for the nickname.
