On July 27, 2026, Savannah Guthrie released a new message about the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. In the emotional video posted to her social media accounts, the Today host pleaded for information that could result in answers and diminish the Guthrie family's suffering.

"The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place. I know that you have tried to do things the right way. So I am asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her. I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice."

Hours later, the YouTube channel for NBC News affiliate KVOA News 4 in Tucson published footage from their new Chris Nanos interview in which the sheriff echoed Savannah's remarks. After stating they continue to work hard to get to the bottom of what happened to Nancy, he added that he too is asking for information from the public.

"It's the same message we had day one. We're working this as hard as we can. There's no lead too small. Like Savannah today, we encourage you if you know something, you saw something, please call us. Let us know."

Sheriff Chris Nanos' Confident Prediction on Resolving the Case

During the same interview, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos dispelled any conjecture that the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has gone cold. He did so by outlining what the PCSD and FBI are continuing to work on in the case.

"We still have DNA that’s not just one lab or two labs. These are labs all across the country that are talking to one another about how best to look at what they have in front of them for DNA evidence."

The YouTube channel of the NBC News-affiliated Today show posted additional footage from the same interview on YouTube. In it, Sheriff Nanos could be heard talking about another investigatory path they are following. "We have so much in terms of video evidence to look at." Most notably, Sheriff Nanos sounded confident during the video when he predicted the outcome of the case.

"I'm still positive that we're going to resolve this case."

Sheriff Nanos' additional comments can be seen at the 1:15 mark of the video below:

These latest remarks come as it has been nearly six months since Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona home in the middle of the night. As the weeks and months have dragged on, some invested observers have become concerned that the case has gone cold. However, experts have cautioned the public not to jump to conclusions like that. One longtime former FBI agent has expressed confidence that the case will be solved and noted that having so much evidence makes it unsurprising that it has already taken months.
