A visit to Jersey Mike's that was supposed to mark a birthday turned into a viral story after a customer said employees at a Baltimore location insulted her while she tried to redeem a birthday reward through the restaurant's mobile app. The exchange, which she recorded and shared on Instagram, drew widespread attention and fueled debate about customer service, employee conduct, and loyalty programs.

The customer, identified by the Daily Mail as Miesha, said she visited the restaurant on Sunday after receiving a birthday offer through the Jersey Mike's app. She later shared a screenshot of the reward and said customers are encouraged to redeem the offer.

In her Instagram post, Miesha said the visit left her "embarrassed, humiliated and disrespected." She described the encounter as the only unpleasant part of an otherwise enjoyable birthday, saying she had redeemed birthday offers from Starbucks, Dunkin', and Sephora without any issues earlier that day.

Video captures heated exchange

The video begins after the dispute was already underway, leaving the events that led to the confrontation somewhat unclear.

During the recording, a male employee who identified himself as "David" can be seen telling Miesha to "Get the f**k out" before adding, "Please and thank you." Miesha responded by warning him that he could lose his job.

The argument continued after she asked for a receipt. The employee said he did not remember faces before directing more profanity toward her. He also called her "broke" and repeatedly told her to leave. At one point, he shouted, "F*** your birthday," while pacing behind the counter. Another employee appeared to laugh during part of the exchange.

Miesha also claimed the confrontation happened in front of other customers and said several people walked out because of the scene. She argued that no customer should experience that kind of treatment inside a business that serves the public.

Online reaction splits viewers

After the video spread online, social media users offered sharply different opinions. Some expressed support for Miesha and urged Jersey Mike's to investigate the conduct of its employees. Others argued the recording did not show the start of the disagreement, making it difficult to determine who was responsible for the conflict.

Discussions on Reddit reflected that divide, with some siding with the customer and others defending the employee because the full interaction was not captured.

Miesha has tagged Jersey Mike's in her posts and said she plans to pursue legal action. Jersey Mike's has not issued a public statement, though Miesha shared a screenshot indicating the company has contacted her about the incident. The Daily Mail also reported that it reached out to both Miesha and Jersey Mike's for comment.
