Brittany Mahomes, the wife of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, was awarded a significant honor this past weekend.
Mahomes played soccer for the UT Tyler Patriots from 2013-16, scoring 31 goals for the program over the course of her collegiate career.
On Saturday, she was inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame.
"Truly honored to be inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame! This City and this School is a huge part of who I am today, I will forever cherish this honor and am forever grateful for what this program did for me as an athlete and as a person! Coach Webb, you brought out the best in me, this doesn’t happen without you!" Mahomes wrote on Instagram.
Mahomes' comment section was flooded with supportive messages, including one from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
In his response to the news, Kelce gave Mahomes a fitting new nickname.
"HOF BRITT!!!! LFG!" the future Pro Football Hall of Famer wrote in the comment section.
Patrick Mahomes, Kelce's longtime quarterback teammate, also shared a supportive message.
"Congrats!!!! Love you!" he wrote.
After her collegiate soccer career with UT Tyler, Mahomes traveled to Iceland for one professional season before retiring in 2017. She is now a co-owner of the National Women's Soccer League's Kansas City Current.
Kelce and his fiancee, Taylor Swift, are close friends with Patrick and Brittany. Mahomes, the mother of Patrick's three children, is often seated with Swift when they attend Chiefs games.
Kelce signed a new contract with the Chiefs earlier this offseason, dispelling rumors regarding his possible NFL retirement heading into Kansas City's 2026 campaign. The 36-year-old tight end will look to help his team bounce back from at disappointing 6-11 season in 2025, which included a season-ending ACL tear for Mahomes.
