An Argentine singer and model was shot dead in Mexico City Thursday night in what authorities are reportedly calling an attempted robbery.
Fede Dorcaz, 29, was killed on while driving in Mexico City’s Daniel Garza neighborhood on his way back from a dance rehearsal, according to TMZ and other outlets.
He was just days away from appearing on Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy, a Mexican dance reality television show.
"According to the Mexico City Secretariat of Public Safety, Dorcaz was shot in the neck while trying to exit a road and died instantly at the scene," TMZ wrote.
"Authorities have confirmed CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to help identify the 4 male suspects, who were seen fleeing the scene on motorcycles -- no reports of any arrests have been made yet."
According to the Daily Mail, it is believed that the suspects followed Dorcaz for "some distance" before the attack.
Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy pays tribute to Dorcaz
Over the last two days, Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy has been honoring Dorcaz, who in addition to his music and modeling careers, was the boyfriend of YouTube star Mariana Avila.
"The HOY family mourns the sensitive passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Dorcaz," the show said in one Instagram post. "We join the pain that bears his entire family, his parents and his girlfriend Mariana Avila.
"Mariana and Fede were one of our predicted couples for the new season of Las Strellas Bailan today. Fede leaves a big void in our team. His memory and passion will continue to inspire us forever.
"Rest in Peace Fede Dorcaz."
Avila has also been paying tribute to Dorcaz's memory on her personal X/Twitter page, sharing a series of gut-wrenching messages.
"You will always be my favorite person in the whole world, I love you I love you I love you and I will always love you," she wrote in one heartbreaking tweet.
"I don't want to spend one more day without you, baby, I'm waiting for your goodnight message, love please come back, you know I was never that strong without you by my side," she added in another.
