Johnny Manziel is heading to SEC country for a major college football showdown on Saturday.
Manziel's playing days are behind him, but he still keeps an eye on the sport and provides occasional analysis on his "Glory Daze" podcast. During an appearance on another podcast, "Night Cap" with Chad Johnson and Shannon Sharpe, Manziel revealed his plans for this weekend.
He'll be in Tuscaloosa to watch No. 10 Alabama host No. 16 Vanderbilt Saturday afternoon, and he won't just be at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Manziel is going to be on the opposing sideline, supporting Vanderbilt star quarterback Diego Pavia.
“I went to dinner with Diego Pavia tonight,” Manziel said, via On3. “They hungry. And guess what? I’m going to Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday, and I’m on the Vandy sideline. ‘Bring it on’ is what them boys are saying.”

Pavia, Manziel linked up last season
Pavia counts Johnny Football as his favorite quarterback, and following Vanderbilt's shocking upset of then-No. 1 'Bama in Nashville last October, Manziel surprised the Commodore signal caller with a congratulatory message.
“What an awesome game, so fun to watch,” Manziel said to Pavia. “Couldn’t be happier for you. Sitting there and watching the whole thing play out has to feel like 2012 for me. But appreciate you showing me a lot of love, hope I get the chance to come on here and show you the same thing.”
Manziel knows what it takes to win in Tuscaloosa
There are probably plenty of topics on which you shouldn't take advice from Johnny Manziel, but there's no doubt that he can tell you what it's like to win at Alabama.
Back in 2012, Manziel led Texas A&M to a stunning win in Tuscaloosa, jumpstarting his Heisman Trophy campaign in the process. The freshman QB threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns and added 92 rushing yards in a 29-24 win.
Alabama-Vanderbilt has plenty on the line
ESPN's College GameDay is heading to Tuscaloosa for Saturday's game, which presents a major opportunity for both teams.
One-loss Alabama, coming off a huge win at Georgia, needs a victory to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, if Vanderbilt (5-0) can beat the Crimson Tide on the road, they will firmly establish themselves as a factor in the early SEC title chase.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
