Whenever there's a film on the way that is written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan, such a project is likely to stop movie lovers in their collective tracks.

That just so happens to be precisely the case for Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey, a movie that features a ridiculous ensemble cast starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, along with Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, and Jon Bernthal, among several others.

With the majority of the production having already been completed, Tom Holland recently shared his experience in making The Odyssey, which might be the most glowing review from an A-list actor that Nolan, or really any director, could possibly hear about their work.

"It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt," Holland said in an interview with GQ. "The best experience I've had on the film set. Incredible."

"It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we've ever seen," said Holland. "Working with Chris [Nolan], getting to know him and [producer] Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I've never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they're the best in the business for sure."

Based on the stellar cast alone, paired with the great Nolan—who most recently won an Oscar as Best Director for Oppenheimer—the movie already felt like a lock to see an exorbitant amount of attention and success come next July, when it hits theaters.

But to hear an actor like Holland, who's been gracing movie screens since the age of 16, gush to that extent about his experience in making The Odyssey kind of vaults expectations to a special kind of level.

"Matt Damon has always been a hero of mine, Anne Hathaway has always been a hero of mine," the Spider-Man star continued. "So to share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them, I couldn't have asked for a better job. And I’m so proud of the work I’ve done. I came to work every day with a real sense of purpose and a point to prove, and I’m so grateful for Chris to have given me that opportunity."

With Holland delivering such a tremendous teaser for the movie, the lone downside is that everyone is just going to have to sit back and patiently wait until next summer.

The Odyssey is currently scheduled to be released nationwide on July 17, 2026.
