Travelers in Kentucky had quite a scare on July 13.

A person was shot at the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, KY,

"There is a law enforcement investigation impacting a portion of Terminal Drive. Our team is on site guiding passengers to open parking. All flights and operations are now continuing as usual," the Blue Grass Airport wrote on X.

According to Kentucky.com, one person suffered serious injuries in the shooting, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. That person was taken to the hospital.

Where at the airport the shooting exactly occurred was unclear, the news site noted.

Kentucky State Police are also involved in the shooting investigation, according to WKYT.

There was no information released on suspect, victim or motive.

Lex18 reported that the shooting was near the airport, but also indicated that it was at the airport, so details are preliminary.

Lexington police also posted about a different scene but it's not clear whether the investigations are related.

The second scene was in the 5800 block of Old Richmond Road.

“For the safety of the surrounding community, officers have temporarily closed some roads nearby and will be assisting with traffic. Please follow all directions given by officers and use alternative routes. Officers will remain in the area until the investigation is complete," police wrote on X.

It's been a dangerous morning in Kentucky. "Kentucky State Police is aware of a trooper-involved shooting incident that occurred on July 13, 2025, at 11:36 a.m. in Fayette County," the Kentucky State Police wrote on July 13 on X. "The suspect shot a trooper and then fled the scene, ending up at the Richmond Road Baptist Church, at which time KSP and LPD were able to secure the suspect. At this time, we can confirm that the trooper is receiving medical attention. There are multiple victims at the church, and EMS is on scene. The suspect is deceased. KSP will provide more information as it becomes available."

It was also not clear whether that incident had anything to do with the airport shooting, though.

The Blue Grass Airport has a page where people can track flights to and from the airport. However, it was not indicating any delays or cancellations on July 13 after the shooting reports unfolded.

The Blue Grass Airport also posted its statement on its Facebook page.

This is a developing story.
