Whoever runs the social media pages for the Tennessee Titans had some controversy to clean up on Father's Day.

Many organizations post typical well-wishes to fathers on their special day, of course.

However, the wording of the Titans' Father's Day post provoked debate.

The graphic with the post on the team's official account was pretty basic. It showed a lawn mower on a football field with the words, "Happy Father's Day." It's the caption that caused the controversy; it's been deleted, but it was preserved in screenshots now going viral on X.

"Happy Father's Day to all the Titans moms and fatherly figures!" the post read.

Here's the screenshot of the post:

Fans weighed in on X.

Some fans focused on the inclusion of mothers on Father's Day. "I guess the SM intern forgot this thing called MOTHERS DAY exists," wrote one X user.

"I’m sorry, is it mother’s day?" wrote another person.

"Happy father's day moms!!!" sniped another.

Others wondered why the post used the phrase "fatherly figures" but didn't mention fathers or dads (other than on the graphic.)

"They can’t say dads? Fatherly figures?" questioned another X user.

Other people had some sage advice for the Titans' social media manager.

"Happy Fathers Day- thats all you have to say," wrote one.

One person had a problem with the lawn mower proving that, on social media these days, sometimes you can't win no matter what you do.

"If they're going to play up tropes by putting a lawnmower in a Father's Day post, I want to see them put a laundry basket in a Mother's Day post to see how well it works out for them," that person wrote.
