A popular all-you-can-eat buffet chain has shut down one of its locations after less than four months in business.
B Mac's Buffet, which opened in Jacksonville in February, closed down recently. According to the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union, a handwritten sign taped to the front door of the building at 900 Dunn Ave., Unit 10 confirmed the restaurant had been permanently shuttered.
The Jacksonville location was the third outpost for the Waycross, Ga.-based chain, which also opened a restaurant in Callahan, Florida in October 2023.
That spot has also been closed down, leaving the original Waycross B Mac's as the only one still in operation.
"That's wild that was the best value in town," one person commented on social media about the loss of the Jacksonville B Mac's.
"That was quick," another person added.
"Food wasn’t that great honestly! but the prices were modest sorry the establishment didn’t last that long thou!" a third person said.
"Didn't see many good reviews honestly. That was quick though," added a fourth.
After he opened the Jacksonville location earlier this year, owner Johnathan McKinney told the Times-Union he planned on starting at least two more B Mac's in the Sunshine State.
"In five years? I'd like to have 100 restaurants in Florida and beyond," McKinney said.
Despite the failure of B Mac's, three other buffet-style establishments--Mikata Buffet, Fushimi Grill & Modern Buffet and Gogi Korean BBQ--are expected to open in the Jacksonville area in the coming months, per the Times-Union.
