A professional chef is dead at 26 years old following a "freak" accident while on vacation in Hawaii.

Gianna Buzzetta, a talented young chef, was killed in a tragic accident while on her dream vacation in Hawaii. The young chef had always dreamed of visiting the islands, but her trip ended in tragedy.

The celebrity chef was reportedly enjoying a hike with her boyfriend, Connor Quinton, when she had a tragic accident. A boulder struck and killed her while she was hiking in Makaleha Falls. A rock had reportedly dislodged from above and she was unable to get out of the way in time.

Her family spoke out following her tragic passing.

“She had told her boyfriend, Connor, that day, he had fulfilled her dreams and it was the best day of her life,” Gianna’s mother, Caty Buzzetta, said in an interview with local ABC affiliate KGTV.

Her father added: “They heard a really loud noise. He looked up, but couldn’t figure out where the noise was coming from.

“Within a second, it happened … The rock dislodged from quite a ways up … then it landed on her.”

The celebrity chef was struck and taken into the water, as her boyfriend reportedly ran for help. She was airlifted to the hospital, where she tragically passed away.

John Resnick, the owner of Jeune et Jolie - the French restaurant where she worked - released a statement.

”We all heard the news, and it was obviously paralyzing, and not knowing what to do. She was a huge part of the team. Super creative, super talented, incredibly hardworking. Humble, confident, I mean all these things that we want to see in the people we work with, and so from that professional talent standpoint, she was incredible and then just as a person you wanted to be around. Our whole team loved working alongside her.
