After Jon Stewart cut his finger on a ceramic mug on a Daily Show episode in late February Comedy Central and its owner Paramount felt it was time for a safety meeting about proper drinking receptacles.
It was on the Feb. 24 episode of The Daily Show when Stewart got so animated while discussing pharmaceutical companies that he broke the coffee mug he had been using. The busted mug then took a chunk from the host’s hand.
“I’ll be going to the hospital,” he quipped on-air after the injury.
On Monday, March 3’s episode Stewart told his audience he wasn’t “allowed to have big boy mugs anymore.”
“There was an actual meeting of the safety department of Paramount and Viacom that was like, ‘No more ceramics for Mr. Stewart.’ They wanted to baby-proof,” he said.

Before hitting on world current events, Stewart spoke of his injury while holding his finger up in view of a camera.
“As you can see, I am fully healed. This is what caused all the commotion,” he said.
The host told the audience and viewers it was just a small cut and it was easily glued back together.
“That’s what nearly brought an old man down – a tiny puncture wound that all the blood in my body went, ‘Let’s go!’” he jokingly said.
He also showed off a new plastic mug that came equipped with a sippy lid and the phrase “World’s Most Dad.”
The Daily Show airs on Comedy Central Monday through Thursday.
