Meghan Markle's Netflix series With Love, Meghan has received a great deal of criticism from viewers since its March 4 release. However, Netflix is sticking behind the Duchess of Sussex after renewing the show for a second season.
In a new interview with Variety, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos spoke highly of Markle.
"I think Meghan is underestimated in terms of her influence on culture. When we dropped the trailer for the 'Harry & Meghan' doc series, everything on-screen was dissected in the press for days. The shoes she was wearing sold out all over the world. The Hermès blanket that was on the chair behind her sold out everywhere in the world," he told the outlet in an article published on Wednesday, March 19.
"People are fascinated with Meghan Markle. She and Harry are overly dismissed," he added.
Sarandos' comments come on the heels of backlash that Markle is facing over her St. Patrick's Day waffles. The former Suits actress shared some videos from her home in Montecito while making her kids — Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3 — breakfast with a green theme.
However, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that the waffles that the duchess photographed and posted on her Instagram Stories didn't look like the ones that she made in her waffle maker. The big tell? The design on the waffle was different.
Nevertheless, Sarandos has made it clear that he's a fan of Markle, which suggests that their partnership may continue for years to come.
