On's best running shoes are lighter and more cushioned than core styles of years past, causing running giants like Brooks and Asics to adapt to these rising trends by increasing stack heights of already well-established styles like the Glycerin and Gel-Cumulus. And though On is a comparatively newer face in the game, its shoes are nothing short of impressive, and recently, one of Men's Journal's favorites that just got a rare discount.

This pair has earned over 70 five-star ratings from REI shoppers, and they're also a hit among the runners of Reddit who agree that "These shoes are awesome, especially if you have flat/wide feet." These soft, lightweight running shoes are designed for neutral foot types and have a 10mm drop with a ton of cushioning, which is the star of the show. The thick midsole cushion features On's Cloudtech Phase technology, created with "cloud" cutouts to optimize heel-to-toe weight transfer when in stride. It's made out of On's Helion foam, which is some of the brand's softest and a main part of why so many have called this their favorite shoe. For added security, it's been given both heel and forefoot rubber panels that assist with traction.
When shoppers first step foot in the Cloudsurfer for a run, the cushion and comfort are the first things they notice. "These shoes have a lot of cushion to them—my feet like that," a shopper said. "They lift you up about an inch and there’s a lot of roll onto the toes. You can feel that when you walk/run. Very easy to get used to. This is my sixth pair of On sneakers. I usually get Cloud Swift, but these are my new favorites."
Other shoppers have compared (and even switched from) other running shoes (even some from On) after feeling the comfort of the Cloudsurfer. "The most comfortable shoe I have ever worn," one shopper admitted. "I have five pairs of Ons, four pairs of Brooks, and two pairs of Hokas. Cloudsurfers are the best out of them all!" Another shopper agreed, simply saying, "Have had two pairs of Cloudmonsters and didn't think they could be beaten, but I prefer these over them now."
