What to say about the media spectacle that is Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift that hasn’t already been said? Surely you’ve spotted the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and pop juggernaut hugging and kissing after a win for his team. Or Swift cheering alongside the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Brittany. Or even Kelce showing up for Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour for moral support (and a helpful physical lift). That’s to say nothing of the internet onlookers who have all sorts of opinions, whether it’s Swifties finally caring about the NFL or Chiefs fans uncomfortable with the distraction.
The thing is, you know who Kelce is. You know who Swift is. What you may not know is their unique, symbiotic vibes.
For one thing, this is the second year in a row that Kelce and the Chiefs will compete at the Super Bowl right after Swift took to the Grammy Awards (where this year she historically presented Best Country Album to friend Beyoncé). For another, fans believe her Grammys red dress last Sunday was a subtle nod to Chiefs Red. And then there’s Kelce and Swift’s most recent photographed embrace, celebrating the Chiefs clinching the AFC Championship title against the Buffalo Bills on January 26.

During a press conference ahead of the Super Bowl, Kelce shared his admiration for his partner’s own seemingly impossible work ethic, ABC News reports.
"To see the week in week out traveling from one country to the next and you know, how excruciating it is on her body and on her mind. It wasn't just her, it was her entire tour," he said, referring to her Eras Tour. "It was the dancers, the band, the singers and everybody involved and it was an absolute machine.
"It was something I could admire watching and take a lot of notes from," he added.
The best we can do here is sum up what makes this couple such a stratospheric match by way of a concise timeline, taking you through every major (public) step of their dating history ahead of the Chiefs’ epic showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, where we have the strangest feeling that Swift will somehow find a way to attend. Possibly even with an Easter egg in tow.
Summer 2023: Where It All Started
Though they were not quite public at the time, Kelce did reveal that he had been at an Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium in his local Kansas City, MO, in the summer of 2023. And apparently he knows Swifties love their concert keepsakes.
Kelce made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, ABC News reports, and tried but failed to hand it off to Swift. Eventually, though, they did meet.
"I'm the one that did the whole friendship bracelet thing and told everybody how butthurt I was that I didn't get to meet Taylor," Kelce said on his New Heights With Jason & Travis Kelce podcast, hosted alongside his brother.

September 2023: The Relationship Soft Launch
It didn’t take long for the relationship to make headlines around the world. Kelce and Swift all but confirmed they were dating when, in the fall of 2023, she was spotted attending her first Chiefs game alongside Kelce's mom Donna Kelce (good move getting close to mom).
Kelce spoke about it on his podcast, sounding glowing.
"Shout out to Taylor for pulling up," he said. "I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her, you know, the friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light."

November 2023: The Hard Launch
It was Kelce, not Swift, who truly confirmed the rumors of their romance. In a November 2023 interview with WSJ., the NFL star confirmed that he and Swift were, indeed, dating. He had more nice things to say about the woman who has won more Album of the Year Grammys than any other artist in history.
"I've never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them… I've never dealt with it," Kelce said. "But at the same time, I'm not running away from any of it… The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she's just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that, I better not be the one acting all strange."
December 2023: Swift Reacts
This time it was Swift’s turn to return the compliments about her latest boo. Since they’re both receiving accolades pretty much all the time, it’s no surprise she was named Time Person of the Year in the final days of 2023.
In the profile, Swift outed Kelce for “very adorably” putting her “on blast” on his podcast. She went on to talk about how they rotate going to the other’s big events as a way of “showing up for each other.”
"We're just proud of each other," Swift said.

January to February 2024: Swift and Kelce Can’t Stop Winning
Déjà vu: Last year, Swift was also nominated for several Grammy Awards, while Kelce was knee-deep in preparing for the Super Bowl. He didn’t make it to the red carpet, but the sentiment was there.
"I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she's nominated for," Kelce sweetly offered on The Pat McAfee Show.
And Swift really was winning that year, nabbing Best Pop Vocal Album and the holy grail of the awards, Album of the Year, for her beloved Midnights. (This is also when she managed to beat Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Stevie Wonder for most Album of the Year wins ever.)
When Kelce had his own victory with the Chiefs at the Super Bowl in February, beating the 49ers for the ring, Swift once again returned the favor, except she was able to show up in person. She joined the tight end on the field after the win. And her mic (from her earlier appearance on Inside the NFL) was still live.
"I cannot believe that. I can't believe you. How did you do that?" Swift was heard saying.

April 2024: Swift Alludes to Her “Alchemy” With Kelce
After all those wins, the couple decided to keep things low-key in the offseason. Well, at least he did. Swift was busy releasing The Tortured Poets Department, with one track in particular that seemed obviously inspired by her NFL boyfriend, “The Alchemy,” with the lyrics:
“So when I touch down / Call the amateurs and / Cut 'em from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown / Baby I'm the one to beat.”
And the same month, the two were spotted at the Coachella music festival, looking happy to chill out.
June 2024: Kelce Becomes Swift’s Backup Dancer
If Kelce can win three Super Bowls (so far) as a tight end, surely he has the strength to carry his woman. And that’s just what we did during Swift’s Eras Tour, with a surprise appearance at a London stop. He came out to “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” off her Tortured Poets album and, in a pro move, lifted Swift off the stage, gesturing as if he was reviving her from the dead. (Or fixing her heretofore broken heart?)
"It was awesome," Kelce noted on his podcast. "And I didn't disappoint Taylor, so that's all that really matters."

December 2024: A New Milestone
Kelce and Swift’s latest highlight was being photographed at an Eras Tour-themed party in this month, coinciding with the end of her globe-conquering, economy-fortifying Eras Tour, which lasted exactly 632 days. Which somehow seems even more exhausting than playing in the NFL.
And in addition to the famous sweethearts, who else was in tow at the party? None other than Brittany Mahomes, wife of Patrick Mahomes, QB and Kelce’s key teammate on the Chiefs. Now we’ll see if the Chiefs can extend Swift and Kelce’s mutual winning streak.
