Jerry Seinfeld has held a special place in audiences' hearts for decades. He became a household name with his hit sitcom Seinfeld, and now, he's gearing up to make his directorial debut with the new movie Unfrosted. In the lead-up to Unfrosted's release, Seinfeld will also be celebrating another major milestone: turning 70.

For many people, 70 has become the new 50, but Seinfeld doesn't exactly view the big 7-0 that way. In an April 24 appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna, the comedian shared his honest thoughts about the big day on April 29.

"I don't really have any interest in it," he stated plainly when asked how he feels about turning 70. He went on to explain how at this point in his life, he's looking to cut out anything superfluous and live a more stripped-down day-to-day.

"You know what it is? It's 'Boy, I could really live with a lot less stuff. Things, people, activities. I'm not doing nothing anymore,'" he said. "We're going to essentialize now. I like to essentialize, I like to purify, I like to streamline. This is where life gets better. Not adding more; add less."

As for if he has any special birthday party plans, he simply said "No," adding the most he'll probably enjoy is "chicken parm."

Still, despite his desire to do less, he's added a new skill set to his resume with directing. "It's really just someone's got to tell these people what to do," he said of the new territory. "Do you want to do it or should we get somebody else to do it? You just go, 'I'll tell them.'"

Unfrosted premieres on Netflix on May 3.
