On Dec. 4, Rockstar Games unveiled the long-awaited next installment in its iconic Grand Theft Auto series, GTA VI. The game returns to the Miami-like setting made famous in 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The trailer contains many Easter eggs that Miami residents may recognize, including an apparent homage to the "Florida Joker."
The man, Lawrence Sullivan, first went viral in 2017 when he was arrested in Miami for waving a gun in traffic. His mugshot began circulating online due to his face tattoos resembling the Joker from Batman. He even has the word "Joker" tattooed as well as a Batman logo with a knife through it. As a result, he quickly became known as the Florida Joker.
Part of the GTA VI trailer includes a police broadcast with a man with face tattoos. While the man isn't an exact replica of the Florida Joker, the resemblance was close enough for Sullivan himself to speak out.
"You might've seen that character in GTA VI; [Rockstar] just dropped the trailer today," he said in a TikTok video. "You know they got that character with the face tattoos. You know who they got inspired by? By me," he stated plainly. "GTA, we gotta talk."

Sullivan wasn't the only past Florida news story to seemingly be honored in the GTA VI trailer. Among those are an alligator walking into a store, a man doing yard work naked, and a police chase resulting in a car flipping over.
GTA VI will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in 2025.
